About the collection

For the Autumn/Winter 2020/21 collection, Sotos Nakis draws inspiration from the Sixties decade in the Greek countryside of Meteora. The starting point of his research was a 1963 photograph taken by Norman Parkinson. The model in the portrait, Melanie Hampshire, is laying on the rocks of Meteora wearing an A-line mini denim dress. At this particular period, tourism made its appearance in Meteora, with the locals interacting for the first time with different cultures, languages and fashion styles.

Through his AW20/21 collection, Nakis presents a dialogue between the playful and free spirit of the Sixties and the strict workwear aesthetics of the country’s women. Cotton shirts and mohair tunic dresses with functional details sit alongside square jackets and A-line tailored dresses, creating a powerful juxtaposition.
